March Madness is upon us. The basketball games are dominating the sports channels. Statistically speaking, though, March is the most unproductive month of the year — believe it or not, they attribute it to the hype and betting around March Madness. Go figure.
On the positive side, many folks have just finished or will start their March break. There is more sunshine during the days. And most fundraising shops are gearing up for a strong Spring with a flurry of activity — from spring direct mail appeals to in-person events to soliciting those ever-important gifts from the returning snowbirds.
And while today (March 17) is 76 days after you made your New Year’s Resolutions, I have found that it’s never too late to start good habits. Perhaps you don’t know where to start. I wrote about many facets of fundraising in my inaugural book, Tales From The Trenches: What I Learned from 25 Years in Fundraising.
March 17th is also a special day for my wife and me as our oldest graduates from being a teenager and now becomes a 20-year-old. So, in light of both a genuine fondness for the fundraising profession, coupled with a birthday celebration, I am giving away 10 physical copies of my book for free to the first 10 people that email me they would like to receive the book at [email protected].
