Episode 51
Episode 51 of Tales From the Trenches Tuesdays again features Lisa Greer, a fundraising coach, nonprofit change-maker, major donor, and author of the bestselling book “Philanthropy Revolution”. We chat about show she decides where to give her time, talent, and treasure. We also speak about the notion of foundations’ disbursement quotas.
As a major philanthropist and a fundraiser as well, Lisa has a unique ability to see both sides of the discussion and has some interesting viewpoints on how we, as an industry, must do better.
I prefer — if I am very connected to an organization — I actually prefer to create a multi-year gift with them. Most of the time, I’ve had to create that myself. Rarely am I asked to do that… I don’t know if I’ve ever been asked to do that. So, it makes more sense for my budgeting point of view. I don’t have to have this weird conversation with you every year where you’re pretending not to ask me for money, but you ask me for money. I’m going to give you money for three years and you’ll know you’re getting it and leave me alone the rest of the time.
